MARKOS GOIKOLEA
Playwright and screenwriter with a degree in Audiovisual Communication from Pompeu Fabra University. He trained in playwriting at the Sala Beckett / Obrador de Dramaturgia and in screenwriting through the ESCAC Master’s program.
In theatre, he is the author of Nunca he estado en Dublín, a play selected for the Donostia Kultura New Dramaturgy Lab, premiered at the Teatro Principal in San Sebastián in its Basque version in 2023 and later staged at the Teatro Pavón in Madrid in its Spanish version starring Eva Hache in 2025. The play has since been produced internationally in Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay and Argentina, where it received the ACE Award for Best Comedy of the Year in 2026 under the title Una Navidad de Mierda.
In 2025, he was selected for the 13th Playwriting Lab of the Fundación SGAE, where he developed El síndrome del Norte under the mentorship of Josep Maria Miró. The text was published in the SGAE “Teatro Autor” collection.
He is also the author of several short plays, including Beren izenez, Award of the Royal Academy of the Basque Language, and Destiny Driver, Bilbao–Tartean Award, Kriselu Award from Pabellón 6, and Lezo Award.
He has collaborated with performer Sergi Casero on the dramaturgy of No pares (sigue, sigue), presented at the Théâtre de la Ville de Paris in 2026, and Trola, which will open Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels in 2028.
In the audiovisual field, he is the screenwriter of the documentary series Inside Tania’s Head, directed by Kike Maíllo.
In 2025, he was awarded a development grant by GAC, Guionistes Associats de Catalunya, for his comedy series project Besneta de Gaudí.
He is also the creator of the sitcom Candidatos, selected and developed in the Serielizados Kick series lab in 2022.
He currently combines writing with teaching at ESCAC, Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisual de Catalunya, where he leads a workshop for the Master’s in Screenwriting.
